Three SEO Strategies you need for higher rankings.
Do you know what it takes to rank in Google, Yahoo, MSN and other top search engines?
- To out rank your local competition.
- To hit the top of page 1 in Google.
- To put your website in the path of free search traffic.
- You need three things…
- Website content, backlinks and more backlinks!
Strategy #1. Website Content.
- Content for your website will depend on the subject for your website and the amount of content your competition has on their site. Page count is important, add more content than your competition has and you are well on the way to beating them to the top of the search results. For local business websites, the content needs to reflect the services and locations you operate in. Keyword density or excessive H1 or H2 tags on your pages don’t matter. Speak to your customers on your website and the search engines will understand.
Strategy #2 and #3. Inbound links.
- Links pointing to your website and the text in those links that describe your website are the most important aspect to ranking your website in search results. However, linking can be difficult, ineffective and time consuming, if you are doing it the wrong way. Most website owners are doing their linking the wrong way. To rank high, to rank long term, you need lots of links pointing to your website. You need a diverse profile of backlinks and you need more than your competitors have.
The average website owner is either doing no inbound linking at all, or linking to any website that will link back to them. Both approaches can be very ineffective and a complete waste of time for ranking a website.
Does the above sound familiar? It is actually less work and easier to do linking the right way. Unfortunately, “the right way” is not known by too many outside of the SEO profession.
Besides getting a website, your linking is the absolute most important thing you can do to be found online.
Anyone can get a website. Only the truly committed will do what is necessary to make that website turn up in search results. Guess what?
Your competition is the truly committed!
Websites don’t get to the first page of any search result by accident. It takes commitment, it takes work, it takes targeted inbound links from quality, trusted, authority websites.
Reciprocal linking is no longer effective in supplying the quality of links that Google wants to see to rank your website high in the search results. Some reciprocal links are OK if they are within the same theme or niche as your site but you should have a very limited number of these types of links on your website. Not hundreds, actually, I recommend less than a hundred in total for most local sites.
The average business owner will not have the knowledge or resources to accomplish a successful backlinking campaign on a regular basis. Some things do require a professional. If you have come to the conclusion that your website SEO needs a professional, give me a call.
